Definition
The brand's ability to be identified by the consumer from its cues (visual, verbal, sonic, spatial). Recognition is the first layer of equity: without recognition no association is possible. It is assessed at two levels: unaided recall (the consumer mentions the brand without a stimulus) and aided recall (recognizing it when given a stimulus).
