Definition
A set of perceptual laws formulated by Gestalt psychology in the early 20th century (Wertheimer, Köhler, Koffka) that describe how the human brain organizes visual stimuli into coherent patterns. They are the theoretical basis of many UI design and visual identity decisions: how we group, separate, complete, and prioritize information at a glance.
