Definition
A strategy, formulated by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne, that proposes creating new, uncontested market spaces ("blue oceans") instead of competing in saturated markets ("red oceans"). Its central mechanism is value innovation: increasing value for the customer and reducing costs simultaneously.
