Definition
In graphic and vector design, a mask is a technique that selectively crops or reveals a layer or shape without destroying its original content. It defines which part of an element is visible or hidden, in a reversible and non-destructive way. Its two main variants are the clipping mask (*clipping mask*) and the layer mask (*layer mask*).
